Ms. Chong Guey Yong Wins First Prize in the Young Researchers' Symposium Prizes 2024 for Groundbreaking Chrononutrition Research
Introducing Ms. Chong Guey Yong, a third-year student in the Doctor of Philosophy in Life Sciences programme at the Faculty of Applied Sciences. She is conducting her research under the guidance of Associate Professor Dr. Koo Hui Chin.
At the 39th Scientific Conference Nutrition Society of Malaysia held at AVANTE Hotel in Petaling Jaya, Selangor, she was awarded the First Prize in the Young Researchers' Symposium Prizes 2024 for her presentation titled "Feeding Round the Clock: A Novel Perspective from the Chrono-DM Study to Explore Chrononutrition and Its Association with Glycaemic Outcomes in Malaysian Adults with Prediabetes".
Her research explores how synchronising meal times with circadian rhythms can significantly improve glucose regulation in prediabetic individuals. By highlighting the crucial link between meal timing and metabolic health, her study offers a pioneering approach to diabetes prevention and management.
Aside from her success at the conference, she is also actively involved in scholarly publications with her research work being published in various peer-reviewed journals, such as BioMed Central (BMC), Diabetes Technology & Therapeutics, Chronobiology International.
