PhD (Physical Science) is an advanced academic qualification and is often considered a requirement for the majority of academic and research positions in a wide range of fields and industries. The aim of the PhD programme is to foster the development of independent research skills. These skills include the capacity to formulate a significant problem, to develop mastery of appropriate conceptual and methodological skills to pursue an investigation and to relate the research to a broader framework of knowledge in a relevant disciplinary area. The programme is also designed to prepare students for various careers in the area of science, engineering and technology. Students of this programme will be equipped not only with knowledge, scientific, critical thinking and technical skills but also interpersonal, communication, negotiation, leadership, teamwork, managerial, entrepreneurial and problem-solving skills. They will also be instilled with good ethical values and the desire and capacity to pursue lifelong learning.
