TAR UMT–UTAR Strategic Collaboration for Research Excellence
KUALA LUMPUR, 8 July 2026 – Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT) hosted a delegation from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) for a strategic meeting aimed at strengthening institutional partnerships and fostering greater collaboration in research, development, and innovation.
The meeting brought together representatives from both universities, spanning research management and academia, to explore future collaboration opportunities and share best practices to enhance research excellence and academic impact.
The TAR UMT delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Loke Chui Fung, Vice President (Research & Development and Commercialisation), together with Prof. Dr. Chin Mui Yin, Director of the Centre for Postgraduate Studies and Research (CPSR). The UTAR delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Zuraidah Abd Manaf, Vice President (Research & Development and Commercialisation), together with Ir. Prof. Ts. Dr. Bernard Saw Lip Huat, Director of the Institute of Postgraduate Studies and Research (IPSR), and Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Pua Chang Hong, Deputy Director of IPSR.
Key discussions focused on joint research and matching grants, research key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance, and opportunities for STEAM initiatives.
The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of TAR UMT and UTAR to strengthening their strategic partnership, advancing research excellence, and fostering meaningful collaborations that generate greater academic and societal impact.
