Master of Science in Applied Biotechnology
The Master of Science in Applied Biotechnology offered under the Faculty of Applied Sciences (FOAS) is a robust, skill-oriented programme designed to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in cutting-edge biotechnological applications. Through courses like Bioprocess Technology, Enzyme Technology, and Plant Biotechnology, students gain a deep understanding of core biotechnological principles, while hands-on laboratory training in Master's Laboratory Techniques I and II ensures students develop essential experimental and technical skills. The programme also offers specialised training in areas such as Agricultural and Environmental Microbiology, Omics Technologies, and Advanced Cell and Tissue Culture, equipping students with the tools to apply biotechnology across diverse sectors like agriculture, healthcare, and environmental sciences. Elective options, including Natural Product Biotechnology, Food Microbiology, and Intellectual Property Rights and Commercialisation, provide opportunities for tailored learning and the development of niche expertise. Emphasising research methodology and data analysis, students refine their critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, preparing them to conduct independent research and contribute to innovative developments in biotechnology. Minimum Entry Requirement
Minimum Entry Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6 Malaysian Qualifications Framework, MQF) in Biotechnology or related field with a minimum CGPA of 2.75 as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR
A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in Biotechnology or related field with at least CGPA of 2.50 and has not achieved CGPA 2.75 can be accepted subject to a rigorous internal assessment; OR
A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in Biotechnology or related field but has not achieved CGPA of 2.50 can be accepted subject to a minimum of 5 years’ working experience in the relevant field.

MUET Band 4.0/ IELTS Band 5.5/ CEFR Low B2/ TOEFL iBT 46 equivalent; OR
